Vacation Bible School

Our church had our first VBS in 10 years (July 20-24).
What an exciting week for us. The last one we had was when
I was pregnant with Matt! I have always wanted to have
another one since the kids have been born, and we finally did!
Our pastor's wife, my sister Vicki, & I each taught a class. We had great songs,
crafts, games, and creative snacks each night. The kids enjoyed every minute of it and
couldn't wait to get there every night. Best of all, they learned some great Bible lessons!
It was awesome seeing all the volunteers come out and help each and every night.
I am so grateful for everyone who took time out to make it such a success.

Here is Matthew about to leave for VBS. He looked so
handsome, I just had to take his picture :) He
is wearing a necklace that he won the previous night. It
has all the lesson themes for each night so he can remember
what he learned. The other day he and I went
to pick out his cake for his b-day party, and the lady that is
making his cake kept saying how cute he is. I have to agree :)

"Just Us Girls" Weekend

Last Friday three of my sisters, two nieces, and I went to Orange Beach for a girls' weekend. This is the first time that all of us have gotten to get away together. Some of them have done this, but this was my first time to go. The last time they did this was a couple of years ago for Vicki's birthday, but I couldn't go because I had just had a root canal and was in a lot of pain :( So needless to say, I was thrilled for the chance to go this time. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was a nice time of bonding and relaxing with the girls :)

At the condo...

I took a picture of Kay in the top picture and then took
another one of her in her silly hat. She thought it looked silly.
I thought it was a cute beach hat :)

and here I am enjoying my vacation...

We spent some time at the lazy river pool ...

This was a neat pool. I had never heard of a lazy river pool, much less been in one. For those of you who don't know, it's a steady flow of water that goes around the main pool where you just go along with the flow in either a raft, innertube, or nothing. I grabbed an innertube and stayed in it the whole time. I loved this pool!

Two "New" Bedrooms... The kids' bedrooms are finally finished! Below are two videos, one of each room. Matthew & Makensie are enjoying their rooms very much. They had to double up for a couple of nights while the paint smell aired out, and last night was their first night to get to sleep in their own "new" rooms. They are so proud of their rooms. They want to show everyone. I think it's great that we are finally able to get them their rooms the way they like them according to their own personalities. I just hope they don't want a different color anytime soon because Bobby is not ready to tackle this task again for a long time. Besides, if he does paint another room, the next one will be one that I choose! :) Hope you enjoy the videos and pictures!

A QUICK TRIP TO DESTIN, FL ...

To kick off Bobby's vacation, we made a last-minute decision to take the kids to Destin for a couple of days. We planned this about six days ahead of time. We were thrilled that we were able to get a room at the same place we stayed last year. It's very family oriented and kid friendly. I think we actually enjoyed it more this time than last year, and we didn't get to stay as long. I experienced my first bumper car ride while there. Bobby and Makensie rode one, Matthew and I another with Matt driving. That was the scariest thing! I felt so out of control. I did not like that feeling. It was fun, but scary to me. The other three had a blast. While there, Makensie lost her first tooth. Below is a picture of her after the fact. Also, a pair of her flip-flops got stolen. We went down to the beach and left our shoes on the boardwalk with everyone else's. When we came back, hers were gone! Bobby and I were so appalled at that. Makensie wasn't upset, just disappointed. I know she has like 19 pairs of shoes, but still it's just the thought that someone would actually steal a little girl's shoes! Despite that, we had a WONDERFUL time. We are back and ready to get painting. The fun starts tomorrow - oh boy!

This was the view from our room shortly after we arrived on Sunday!
